Primary Emotions:

Confusion, forgetfulness, misunderstanding and a general feeling of being lost in one's own body and mind. However, like other species of Changeling's they are capable of digesting multiple types of emotions. This comes in handy when they are disguising as a client.

Occupations:

Erasure of unwanted memories, transforming one creature into another (memory swap or the full transformation, it needs two clients to perform), selling Chrysalis pods which are built for varied reasons (They manufacture Chrysalis pods not only for conversion or prison cell purposes but also for relaxation, medical and other client specific purposes)

Unique Abilities:

Memory Manipulation (generally deeper and more personal ones), Chrysalis Pod manufacturing, Form manipulation (with Chrysalis pods), memory flash-bangs from their horn and ambient forgetfulness magic from their horn (does not work on Changeling's)

Naming System:

Their amnesia inducing magic comes at a price. Forgetting their own name. However they still have names. They determine their name from the mind of the pony they are talking to. It is a subconscious act done immediately upon talking to the pony. If the pony subconsciously has a name for them then that is their name otherwise they will take the name of the pony or manipulate it in some way to create their own name depending on the experience of the Changeling.

 

The key take-away from all of this is that they do not make up their own names and with their names come from the memories of others not of their own which means that their names could change quite often.

Hive Structure:

Their hive runs like a business. They have multiple small branches for smaller memory related tasks all across Yakyakistan and one big hive right next to Yakyakisan's capital. Their main hive handles the bigger cases like form transformation and Chrysalis pod manufacturing. It is a darker than usual hive with an eerie purple glow to it. Chrysalis pods hang everywhere and the Changeling's use them as beds. Some rooms with Chrysalis pods are used for relaxation, others for clients, others for erasing bad memories for Changeling's who want to forget horrible things (even Changeling's from other hives if they are willing enough) and others for medical reasons.

 

Not even the Changeling's know how they enter the hive. Only the entrance guardians and the Queen herself knows how it truly works and I do not think they are going to let anybody, including Twilights in on their secret. Essentially how it works is the Changeling will arrive at the entrance which is placed somewhere in the village. After that they magically find themselves within the hive.

 

It is all about recollection. At the end of the process their memories are wiped of going through the process. In this case the Recollection Changeling's have no idea where home is but they have been trained to know the feeling of being led by lost memories. They simply let their lost memory guide them home. It is sort of like an ingrained skill on the level of using a knife and fork or even running, a skill that does not require any thought to do as they are so used to it.

Queen Status:

Name: Xiomara

 

Name Meaning: Queen Xiomara is named after the Uzbek term Xotira which when translated to English means memory. Xiomara also has a slight meaning of famous in war. However in relation to Xiomara war does not relate to a conflict between the two nations but rather than conflict we all go through in our daily lives. The struggles we have to deal with and overcome especially in relation to the mind.

 

Approximate Age: 30

 

Xiomara was a feisty little Changeling. She loved sparring and anything to do with combat. This was a stark contrast to her mother who was a lot more pacifistic in nature and calm minded. Xiomara did not want to become her mother through the memory transferral process and activity fought to keep her sense of self.

 

After a magical incident involving her rights of passage she was forever changed.

Today she retains her feisty attitude but is better at applying it in correct ways. Xiomara has one main problem and that is that she tries too hard. Xiomara overworks herself to the limit making her appear stressed a lot of the time with all of her work. She is good natured and can happily talk to anyone but if she has work to do at the same time her stress can get to her and make her say some mean-spirited things.

Lineage Summary:

Xiomara has no daughter because she is extremely young. Younger than Simz's daughter Oasis and Tanzerim's daughter Aurora in fact. Most hives would consider her too young for the position.

Rise to Leadership:

The Queen passes on her memories of leading the hive to her daughter. Take in mind this is not a duplication process but rather a memory transferral which means the queen forgets as her daughter learns. As the daughter learns more she is given more queen-like roles in the hive until she is ready for her final test. The final test for a Changeling Queen to be like Xiomara is to find a creature of high intellect, leadership powers or fighting skills and take their memories. The target retains their memories but forgets the encounter they have with the queen to be. For a queen this is like an evolutionary step as once this step is complete they finally evolve into a queen with all of the queen benefits. It is also the only time where bucket-loads of memories can be transferred in less than a minute. It is sort of like the big bang to queen transformation.

Public Relations: 

Originally the queens disliked Xiomara for her feisty attitude and how she would ignore other queens during meetings. Since becoming queen and the incident Xiomara has personally apologised to some and is actively attempting to create better bonds. The other queens are still wary of her though.

 

The Just and Repression Hive hate each other today although I would say that the Just Hive hate the Repression Hive more than the Repression Hive dislikes them.

 

Her left-over feisty attitude also gives her the knowledge to make good conversation with military queens like Pupa and Tempest as Xiomara knows a good amount about fighting styles and manoeuvres.

 

In relation to Xiomara and Celestia. Xiomara has some respect for Princess Celestia and even a slight amount of love towards her. However Xiomara is really scared of Celestia and keeps her distance in fear that Celestia would hate her for what she did to Sunset. Xiomara is also trying to get past it as she knows that some of her emotions are being affected by the Sunset Shimmer memory transferral.

Historical Facts:

Back in the past the Repression Hive where affixed with the power of Conversion, the queen in particular wanted to push conversion to its limits. She sent Changeling's across the globe to collect different creatures and convert them not only into Changeling's but into other creatures as well. The Just hive on the other hand intervened whenever possible and fought them off in a classic hero vs villain way.

 

That changed when a Just Queen became the High Queen. With the powers of a High Queen she decided to have a little greeting. The Yakyakistan Queen (originally a Contemplation Changeling at the time) intervened before the Equestrian High Queen could do anything. In the end deals were made and the Repression Changeling's would stay out of Equestria for many centuries to come. The Yakyakistan queen agreed that the Repression hive needed to find less... villainous means of collecting emotions like making randoms forget things of their lives and feeding off that. Over the centuries that followed the Changeling's put their extended Conversion Pod knowledge to good use and while the Just Hive are still not happy about it the High Queen of Yakyakistan was happy for their efforts. Changing from a villainous hive to a hive that contributes to society even with an underhoof business system was good enough for her.

More Recently Xiomara tried to take Sunset's leadership memories and some skills as part of her rise to leadership but mistakes were made. Xiomara took on some of the lessons from Celestia but also took a few emotions (you should never take emotions). She emerged from the experience with the teachings of Celestia and some emotions towards her and consequently runs her hive like Celestia with love and compassion. She still retains some of her feisty attitude though.
